They had the offender, talked to the offender and yet let him go??? The parks woman said if she had more people to enforce laws she could have had him thrown out. Duh, do they not have police officers in Brooklyn who could have issued him a citation for destruction of property?

The one guy is right....knee jerk reaction to solve a problem. 357 people + are good people and they have noi problem with them doing what is right and one idiot gets away with destruction of property and destruction of the public relations between detectorists and the parks personnel. Definitely wrong on many points. I hope the good one provide a united front and do so in a good manner and they can get the city council or whoever is over the parks system to step back and rethink their reactionary decision.

Praying for a good turn out for all on this situation.

What about the other abusers of the park that she claimed were destroying areas and had to watch them, are they still able to use the Public Parks, the same as others, except the detectorists?? Get together and protest your city and county taxes until YOU, also, can use the parks for your hobbies and good exercise! Very unfair to single out those who want to help finance their incomes and enjoy the outdoors in their detecting hobby! Public means public....for everyone's reasonable use! DISCRIMINATION for some but not others using the parks! UNFAIR, UNFAIR and, again, I say, 'UNFAIR"! Poor excuses for the park keepers to make that they need more policemen....Hire more plice and park caretakers and put people to work in this downtrodden economy! God Bless! Betty

In doing so we could establish ourselves with the city as NOT the ones causing the problems. Also, we could police ourselves in those parks when we have an individual who insists on being a pain and causing us grief by not filling in his holes and confronting him, preferably with two or more people, with the problems he is causing all of us.

Idealistic, yes, but we have to come up with some solution that will show we are also concerned about the vandalism that is taking place in our parks and want to help correct the problem by sweat equity.
