Bad news...

Pete in MI

New member
I sometimes wonder about the news media and the forwards in emails and those who run to and fro with nothing but bad news.

Ya know life was very tough on Job. Not only did he lose all he had including his family, live stock, everything...and each time there was always one who ran to him with bad news "and I only am escaped alone to tell thee". (Job chapter 1).

How many people live their lives hinged on the edge of their seats trying not to miss any of the bad news that TV, radio and papers have to say? Lots. Is this what God wants us to do? Are we to live our lives in fear or terror?

Maybe there is a better way to live than living in fear and in terror:

Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Just something to think about. I think, had I been Job, I would had shot the messenger.

we listen to Christian radio stations, very little TV, don't get the paper - unless I am in it (and it only comes out once a week anyway - not a daily), most forwards I get in my email I just delete without even reading them especially frustrating is getting the same one from several people, don't subscribe to or pay attention to Yahoo News or other news...just Gimundo which has good stories.

Am I a turtle pulling its head into its shell, an ostrich burying its head in the sand? Nope, just controlling what goes into my eyes, ears and heart.
