Speaking of bad publicity, I watched as much as I could stand of the latest Diggers episode,{I think}, it's the one where they are up in Alaska looking for miner's relics. It was disgusting. The main dude was obnoxious. It was all about the money and not the enjoyment of the hunt.
Wish I could get a couple hundred for an old mattock or gold pan. And a still sharp saw blade. Planted obviously. And where is the good stuff that fetched the $20,000? Obviously they showed us the best stuff they found, and it would take tons of that scrap iron to bring back that kind of money. I guess these shows are meant for the average Joe, not metal detectorists. Videos by diggers on youtube are infinitely better.
Yeah, I think the next one is in the Detroit metro area. I hope this show is soon cancelled. Sheds an embarassing light on us detectorists. Maybe it's time I bought one of those detectors that looks like a cane. Saw one advertised in one of my mags. This way I'll just look like a guy with a bad leg with ear buds listening to an mp3 player. "Look at that poor man on a cane with a bum leg
His mind must be going as well, he keeps leaning over and playing in the grass."
Come to michigan to detect but leave your pick axe at home. We want to be able to keep detecing with out trubble. They show the world that we are just a bunch of looters and thats not what we are.
