First off, the weather has sucked here. Second, when I have managed to get out recently my hunts have been awful. I had a two hour hunt that produced 27 coins! You've all seen photos of my stuff and probably realize how that compares to my norms. This weekend was pretty nice. I went out yesterday for just under 4 hours and got a mess of stuff including 9 wheats and a George VI penny. The silver is still in the ground waiting for me, I guess. Loads of nickels last night too. I was up extra early today and couldn't get back to sleep so I was on the road at 4:30 and home before 9:00! 3.5 hours. Mostly clad, a few more wheats, a junk ring that looks much nicer than it is, and some foreign coins. Still no gold. Still. No gold. Still. I'm about 100 bucks away from paying for my ATP with finds. About 95 percent of those finds have been clad too.

What are those buckels from? I've found scads of them over the years.
As for the silver coins piled up and waiting for you - well, Hope springs eternal.

How far do your detecting rounds take you?

I think they are from football uniforms. I try to keep it within 50 miles of home. Both of these sites were around 25-30. In opposite directions, though.

Chris

Allways good to get out and hunt aint it chris. Ive been detecting for 9 months now and have paid for the Ace & Pro with mostly my scrap brass &copper finds and the clad coins, didnt think i could do that at the beggining, but I did:thumbup: I dont get to hunt alot , but its allways nice to C someone post a pile of dirty clad and other goodies

Within 50 miles, eh? DO you map them on Google or something like that?

Holy smokes that's a good load of clad for 4 hours, way to go! The ring does look like it's something good. Too bad it's not.

I used to just drive around looking for good sites. When gas was cheaper I did. I also ask around a lot and use online maps from time to time. 100 miles round trip is based upon how much clad I can find in an average day. I figure if I can cover gas expenses with clad then everything else is gravy.

These days I don't add too many new sites. I think I've been to on new one in 2011. Possibly two. I've always meant to sit down and write a list of all the places I go to. I know there are many I haven't been to in a few years.

I believe that those buckles are from bib overalls. I've found a few and they remind me f all the old farmers hanging around the town square when I was a kid....

Just be thankful you are able to get out and metal detect. The alternative really stinks. A mediocre day to you and some of the others would be a great day for me. HH.

I do just like getting out but this gold drought is getting serious! I am finding a lot more nickels with my AT Pro too. Reminds me of when I was swinging an Ace 250. I found a lot of gold with that machine and I thought when I picked up the AT Pro for the first time I'd be in the money in no time. I am patient and know it will happen and when it does I will be surprised and grateful.

Nobody calls me Wilky or Wilk anymore. Not since high school and Navy days. Did our paths cross in the 80s?

Chris

WOW. And here I thought I was doing good. Nice job on the clad Cwilk.
