Balance Pot Question?

A

Anonymous

Guest
Hi all,
I know that Eric posted the front end schematic awhile back and he uses the NE5534 op amp. A trimmer connected to the power supply on either side and the center wiper is connected to pin 1 which is labeled "Balance". Can someone explain what the balance pot is used for and how to adjust it properly?
Thanks,
Fred

Hi Fred,
The pot that is connected to pin 1 is an offset adjustment. It is used to set the standing dc level on pin 6 to zero. The preferred way is for the ends of the pot to be connected to pins 1 and 8, and the wiper through a 22K to V+. My original diagram was probably different so that I could also use other opamps.
Eric.
