I have hit this park 2 times, and I dont think any one else does. Its not very old,70's I'm thinking.First time there,3 quarters,13 dimes,3 nickles,39 pennys, oldest penny 59 oldest nickle 64,second time,7 quarters 11 dimes,20 pennys.2 nickles.Oldest quarter 65,oldest dime 65,oldest penny 55.Man, so close to finding silver I just have to keep trying!! Its good practice for the 75,It gives me the chance to try a variety of settings. HH rick in mi....

You'll have that detector paid for in no time with sites like that.

Great shooting, Rick! Even if they aren't old, it's still fun finding them!!

Rick, you are right about the practice not only do you get to try settings but it also trains the ears. Nice haul. Randy

It is very likely that silver is there.
Think about this.
Collect your change for one week.
Next look and see what the oldest date is.
You should have a few coins that are 50 years old.
1960 penny would make 50 years old.
Now think about subtracting 50 years from 1970.
You should atleast find a few wheat pennies there.
But if the ground is very soft, they will be deep ones.
Try to only dig the deep coins for an hour or two and see what comes up.

Thanks guys and gals, sorry about the slow response, whent out of town for awhile.Yes I will keep hitting this spot for some time, like markg said I will consentrate on the deeper tones and try to stay away from the clad laying on top. My ltd doesnt like shallow targets haha, I did notice my older coins where 4 to 5 inches deep. And yes iskirkra it is a good learning curve this maching is powerfull!!! Thanx liz hope you keep finding those good ones:thumbup: Roland you are right its a ball.Elton always nice to hear a reply from you.:clapping: rick in mi................

Hit the ball park again...14 quarters,3 dimes 10 pennys 1 1942 canadian penny, and 1 1946 wheat.I was amazed at all the quarters I found,so I whent to another park and used the same settings,I found 6 quarters,2 dimes 1 nickle,8 pennys. Now I think this setting has something to do with all these quarters I am starting to find,I quit digging zinc for the most part, though sometimes I wil cuase thats how I find shotgun shells.Sens 80,Disc. 25,Notch 1,Tones 3, and Proccess de.Pretty simple hey!! hh rick in mi.

If you want to have some fun, do the 'scooter' trick and set your Disc at 65, run Sens. about 80-90 (whatever you can for your soil and EMF), Tones 3, and notch in nickels. Nickels will produce a lower tone, dimes and up will produce a higher tone and you can still hit any gold in the nickel range (like a man's ring). This works great on an area filled with tabs and can slaw, although, you will still hit a few 'zincolns' in the dime (and sometimes quater) range.

Keep at it......it just gets better!!

Ron use the 3H instead of the 3 cause nickels will hit on a high like the rest of the coins. And its Shooter not Scooter. hehehe

Oops, must have been Freudian slip, sorry Scoo...., er, um, I mean Shooter! That's the second time I've done that, isn't it? As far as the tones, personally, I liked the nickels hitting a lower tone, but, I guess that is just a personal preference thing. Whatever works for you, is the best!

You know your right, at 65 you don't need all high tones, your way you have that different low tone so your "almost" sure of a nickel or gold, nice idea Roland going switch to your 3 instead of 3H when Nick's are notched-in Way to go................

Yeah, I tried it both ways. When using those settings, I am usually moving pretty fast and scanning over the trash (and, probably, some rare good stuff, but, in my local soccer complex, there is nothing besides tabs and clad). Having the 'notched-in' nickels hit a different tone just alerts me to needing to investigate closer, as there is often a ring tab involved.
