cool lock too but have no idea why a gun company would make a lock like that???

Welcome Weston and congrats on the nice finds! Many start detecting at a young age and are capable of doing more swingin' and diggn' than the older folks who tire out more quickly! Starting younger will give you years of experience and be a professional in just a few years! The lock was probably made by Winchester along with their guns to lock their strong boxes or saddle bags hauled by Stage Coaches and when riding horses! Many companies made many things as diversity using the skills that the workers had! May God Bless you to stay healthy and to find lots of goodies and the real oldies! Amen!
