I want to publicly thank Ray-mo for giving me the Barber mojo. I while back he posted that it was easier to find Barber dimes around here than roosies and I thought he was nuts. I even told him so. As it turns out, since my hunt with him a few weeks back I am on a tear with Barbers. Go figure,

In the last few weeks I have found 6 Barber dimes. even had a stretch where I found 5 in a row. Now just to let you know how really out of the ordinary this is for me, I looked back at my finds over the years and it turns out I was averaging 1 Barber dime EVERY 2 YEARS!! :yikes:

And now 6 in the last few weeks. THANKS RAY!!!!!!!!

My latest one was this morning. Was only able to make it out for a short couple hour hunt with Ashdigger to one of the heaviest hunted parks in town. In a corner of the park got a good signal. Dug a nice hinged plug with my Raptor digger, flipped it over and the beauty was right there in the bottom of the plug staring up at me. So beautiful. It was the reverse side so I did not now if it was a barber or seated at the time. So I carried the plug to Steve (Ashdigger) so we can have the fun of finding out together. As I got up to him, he was in the process of digging up a beautiful 1890 Injun.

Turns out it was a Barber dated 1912-s.

A short but fun hunt.

Man thoses barbers are nice!!!! I find silver but no barbers, What gives? My mercs are deep , 7 to 10 '' !! What do you guys think the problem is? Congrats on your finds, and thank for the posts!!! Doug N.C.

In my area I have found at least 6 barber dimes, but no rosies. I think that the minelab can get them where others couldn't and the top stuff is gone already. Aslo there are places that haven't been used much in 100 years like fields and wooded areas. I find Barbers in the 6-8" range here in my area but this area was big and wealthy during that time period.

Good to see you are having so much fun as that is what it is all about. And just because I was correct does not negate the fact that I am still nuts.
Just ask my wife? When we differ I am right 99% of the time and she still thinks I am nuts,Ray.

It was really cool seeing the plug come out in one piece and that dime right at the bottom of the plug...

Thanks Doug.

If your Mercs are that deep, Barbers will be harder to find of course, but they will be there if that area is old enough. If that depth is because of fill dirt, find some other spots such as yards where there may not be as much fill and look extra hard for some area with some work being done to them where some topsoil is being removed.

Thanks Bryce. Lets plan on getting together for another hunt again soon:detecting:
