Anyone here have any knowledge of the Barracuda PI detector? I have only seen it on it's own site where it is, of course, the best thing since sex!

Bill,
Between the two, Barracuda Verses the Goldguest SS. You'd take the Goldquest, correct?
Thanks
Tom

Hi all,
The point is, that the Barracuda is a submersible detector and the Goldquest isn't. If you want to wade into the water and get the detector wet, the Barracuda is fully waterproof. If you want to search the dry and wet sand and be able to submerge just the coil, but not the control unit, then there is a wider choice of detectors - Goldquest being one.
Eric.

For the most part I would take the Goldquest SS. It is considerably more sensitive toward low conductive metals than the Barracuda.
Although I am the US importer of the Goldquest SS, one would think I would be biased a bit toward it, (well I am a bit <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)"> ). The Barracuda is a fully waterproof PI detector, and anyone purchasing one wouldn't be disapointed with it's performance.
No disrespect here, there just two different detectors.
Mr. Bill

I have owned several of the newer brands of PI detectors now offered, I am a beach (dry and wet sand) and water hunter and since I live in a MH and travel all over the US and have been on hundreds of beaches...I have to state that the Goldquest SS is the best of the PI's out there that I have owned and tried. I must state I have not owned a Aquastar nor used one but I guess that is in the future. If the Goldquest SS has a weakness it is that it is not waterproof because I know in my heart is just a matter of time until a rouge wave gets me and it or I fall but the unit is just so much detector I find my hand grabbing it for the outings on the beach. I have learned that is does have descriptive audio and reacts to different metals in a manner that allows me to not dig as much iron pieces as with other units, I was delighted and surprised with this. It is not a detector for trashy beaches unless you have self control and patients. You can swing it at a faster clip than with other PI's I have owned, you get a blip of audio and swing back to it at a slower rate to pinpoint it. I do not miss the deep, deep targets at a faster rate because of its faster reaction time. Deep/Deep targets have audio responses that let your educated ear know the real deep ones from the saturated audio of shallow ones. The 11" coil allows some real gobbling up of beach area.
As you can see....
I have to state I am totally satisfied with the unit and appreciate the person associated with making it and the person who sold it to me.

Is it true that the board in these are basically a modified White's Surfmaster? I hads heard in past in was more sensative to small gold, sounds like current mod you do??? How much better can it be for that price over a current White's Pro PI ????

Is it a White's board do you know???? How much does it cost? Thanks

I wouldn't call it a White's board. It's not a Surfmaster PI board stuck into a Anchor case.
