Batteries.. which do you use

I use both the factory rechargable and t-energy rechargables. Ive noticed if you first start your detector or get a new factory rechargable for the first week or so my detector is noisy. After that it runs pretty smooth. I know the machine is supposed to send a constant current until it reaches a certain voltage.. 8 volts i think. Ive talked to several hunters who change their batteries when they reach 10 volts. That confuses me... because the factory is a 9.6v rechargeable yet the manual says its 12v under technical specifications. Ive noticed rechargables are 1.2v (X8=11.2v) and normal batteries are 1.5v (X8=12v). This said which do you use and why? I like to use the factory, but with the noise im getting lately and even some limited depth im starting to beleave its the battery. Im going to try normal 1.5v tomorrow just to see if there is a difference. Im told there wont be any just because the Volts only affects how LONG the batteries last.

Dew I use the factory batteries. I even have a nimh explorer battery from an earlier explorer, the 1500mah. They both work great up until they run out of juice and I have from time to time run out and put in my alkaline pod with Duracells and never notice any difference. Ive never experienced what you are with yours.
Myself if I got any more batteries I would scoop up a used minelab nimh pack again.

It should continue to run stable without depth loss until the battery scale is very close to the bottom. The higher the mah rating the longer it takes to discharge the batteries.
Fresh batteries whether they are alkaline or nihm shouldn't matter about causing any electrical interference, it simply shouldn't happen, probably site related.
I use 2800 nihms and get something like 20 hours out of them.
Next time that happens try the noise cancel at a different place on the site or go to another site and try it ... I really don't think it 'battery related though unless your battery pack contacts need cleaned.

I BOUGHT A ENERGIZER RECHARGEABLE UNIT AT WALL-MART LAST WEEK IT CHARGES 8 -AA BATTERIES AT ONE TIME THEY ARE 2450 MAH I FIRST USED THE RECHARGEABLE UNIT THAT COMES WITH THE EXPLORER XS AND THEN I USED THE AA BATTERY PACKET WITH ALKALINE BATTERIES THEN I USED THE NEW ENERGIZERS AND THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE

Andy that was the same question i was going to ask... HOW? I did try regular batteries today and didnt get any noise and the machine seemed to noise cancel anywhere. Mike i know what you are saying is correct, but when i used my DFX i made mention to the same issues of noise for the first week. I bought 3 factory battery pack for the DFX and it was noisy for the first week .. kind of like EMI. I come to beleave the batteries needed several times of rechargeing to meet their peak, because after a week, no problem. Mike do you recharge every time you hunt or let the machine tell you its time for a recharge? I will hunt a good 4 or 5 hours each hunt and put my batteries on the charger when i get home. I mentioned the voltage in my initial post just because some of my friends change them when they reach 10v.

before putting them back on the charger ... but if I never go into the woods without a spare charged battery pack.
And yes .. it takes a few charges before they will load up too 100% but I still think you'll be better off conditioning the batteries by running them down more before recharging.
Even though they are not supposed to have a memory anymore ... I don't chance it and so far I get long battery life.
