batteries

I think I'm convinced that my machine is better running on alkaline batteries than rechargeable. It seems to respond quicker and give off far less of those false signals that get your attention only to not reappear when you go back over to find them. Any thoughts?

I've only used alkaline in mine so far.

It's odd that battery type would affect the performance providing the batteries are fresh (have power), and have the same voltage out put (around 12V for 8 1.5V AA).

My Safari runs better on alkaline batteries also. And the premium batteries last longer a lot longer than the cheaper ones. As a cost issue rechargeables is the way to go but I don't think my machine performs near as well. Just my 2 cents worth. HH

Rechargeables only give you 9.6 volts. Alkalies give you a full 12. I'm glad to here I'm not just thinking it is better on alkalies

You can't beat alkaline batteries. Look for sales on name brands. I usually visit my local Batteries Plus Store who always has the best deals.

I usually use DURACELL or Energizer, but I came across some RAYOVAC at Home Depot, buy 30 and get 30 free, plus they were on sale. Got 60 for $8.97 + tax. Has anyone used RAYOVAC, and what were your results.

Been using energizers since new. Getting 12 to 15 hours out of them. I have a rechargable battery on the way from Kellyco. The slide in one.Hope I didn't waste my money.Still waiting for the wall charger (on back order )so I can't use it yet.I just paid 10 bucks for 24 energizers. Not to bad.Guess I will have to use my rechargable as back up!! PS I have been using headphones. Good luck.

I got a whole card of Rayovacs that were faulty. Sent them to Rayovac and they replaced them. Darn things just won't work in my Safari worth a hoot. I now use energizers in the Alkalie battery but my rechargabole Eneloops beat anything so far. onus

Most metal detectors have a voltage regulator circuit built in. That is the reason you can run Alki. 1.5v or Rechargables 1.2v. The detector is designed to run at a voltage less than 12v. The voltage regulator will stabilize voltage over a battery voltage range. Every detector manufacture uses a voltage MIN. Alot of detectors run down to 8v before it affects performance some even less. I have seen them run fine to 6v. Cheaper detectors have no voltage regulation. So battery voltage will effect those sooner. You should not see any performance issures with rechargeables only run time. Some manufacturers may not want rechargeables because of run time issures. cheaper batterys 1200ah to better batterys 2900ah in AA size. Plus cheap chargers out there.
