Battery charging question...

In the manual it states that they recommend that once a month you drain and recharge the batteries. How do you all completely drain the batteries? I've charged my unit when I received it a few weeks ago and it still shows full bars on the control box and coil. I guess I could leave the unit turned on until it shuts itself off but that might take a while and if I want to go detecting... then I may have less than adequate charge. Thanks for your help.
 
I'm not sure, but I believe you only need to do that if you are not hunting. I go on two four hunts with mine and then recharge. It has worked very well so far.
 
The manual says if you store the detector for a long period of time you should then discharge/recharge them at least once a month. It
 
Okay, thanks for the info. I just want to be sure I do things right to get the most life out of these rechargeable batteries. I'm sure it will be pricey to have them replaced when the time comes.
