Battery Connector Excal

Sandpiper

New member
I need to locate a battery plug to replace this. This is on my Excal 11 which is like brand new. This machine was sent in twice to have repair because of unstable running. Minelab said they replace the PCB board. As you can see in the photo the plastic piece was busted all the way around, only the dark area was holding allowing water to enter the whole time. Machine is now out of warranty.
Thanks for any help finding this piece.

Thanks for the reply, started thinking after I posting. Use the spare on charger and will clean and redo the old one for charging since not needed to be water proof anyway. Finish this up about an hour ago. The only thing I was a little confused on is the wire for positive and neg. Blue I took for neg.- ground. Have not powered on as of yet, just want to make sure of the wires. Water had wept up the wires, might should remove end cap and check board, but don't know about that as of yet. Due to the water tarnishing the wires I was not able to tin them very good. Wanted to tin them so the set screw would have a good bite.
Photos of finish.
Thanks again, enjoy watching your videos.

Yes make sure she is wired correct. If the wire will not tin more then likely she should be replaced in time.

Depend on how long your warranty has been out..... after repairs, you should have 6 mos. warranty. Hey Joe.... should these be checked once a quarter and maybe some silicone grease put on them?

Thanks Dew, did not know about the 6 months deal. I tend to think that this was the problem from start. This was a brand new machine that gave me trouble from the start, when it was produced someone just over-torqued the nut. After I made repairs, have had it out several times underwater with no problems, just open it back up this morning to check that every thing was O.K. I have always used Dow 111 silicone on gaskets and o-rings. Also the blue wire is neg for anyone else needing the information. There is a compression rubber o-ring inside the 9/16

Nice blow up..... What kind of problems did this cause you? Sometimes came on.... shut off.... static? Those darn thing art like $75 too.

Dew, from the beginning the machine was unstable, would not hold a steady threshold. It was impossible to know if your were over a target or not. Sometimes shutting it down and turning it back on would take care of the problem for a little while but it would resume. This was found when the machine shut down completely. I noted that moving the battery connector a certain direction it would come back on. I really don't think its a common problem, just think a gorilla over tighten the nut on this machine. Don't think it was ever noticed on both return repairs to Minelab. The only thing I did was replace the corroded plug on the excal with the good charger plug, made sure that everything was clean and applied plenty of 111 silicone to the O-ring before reassembly, so far so good.
I notice that you run your wires as I do, straight, taped. You are right, it cuts down on the drag. I like your setup. The only things I need to change now is the headphones, what a pain to wear. I'm also wanting to be able to change my blue 800 small coil to a larger coil or be able to interchange coils. I like the blue so much better that the II but would like the option to use a larger coil. Don't get me wrong the small coil has it's advantages.
