Battery gasket and waterproofing the CTX

I seen some post of leaking seals, after being a diver for some 30 years and using lots of underwater housing like lights and cameras one thing that is always used on the gaskets is silicone grease. You don't need a lot of grease, just a little goes a long way and you need to make sure you do it before getting to the outdoors to keep blowing dirt or sand out of the grease. Almost all dive light lights have a o-ring seal but without the silicone grease will leak. Hope this helps!

The best thing Minelab could do here is to make a thicker "gasket"! There is almost zero compression when it's latched down. Silicone will help, but Minelab claims people shouldn't use it because most people won't keep it perfectly clean and tiny amounts of sand will compromise the seal.

I purchased a pack of gaskets, my question is how often should you change them? I was thinking of changing my gasket at the start of each season.

What about those sprays used to waterproof cell phones? Theres a few out there. Would be a nice backup for inside the battery compartment. And screen. -Joe
