Battery life,,,,, F 2, F 70

On my F2 I ran the batteries down to no bars at all and they both tested "replace" on my tester. On my F 70 I replaced at 1 bar. Only 1 battery was in the "replace" and the other three were right on the line of good and low. I think next time I will replace just the one and see how that goes. The performance on both did not seem to change with low bars. The battery life on the F 70 is about double of that on the F2, 4 AA's vs 2 -9 volts.

I know right! Ive been running the atpro batteries down to nothing, then putting them in the F70..bing! Full charge, hunt for more hours on the same batteries.
As far as the most cost efficient detector out there, meaning value of finds per expense of operation, this F70 has got to be near the top. Then toss in features and ergonomics, quite a machine. I've been wondering what this extreme battery life is all about...is it because I typically run at half sens? Would running at full sens discharge them at a greater rate? This thing seems to have power to spare in most hunting situations. There should be some great deals on AA's coming up after Christmas and all...a fellow can get 30 of the things for less than 10 bucks, with a 2 dollar rebate coupon attached! Talk about hours of cheap fun! Not that battery life should be the sole reason for a purchasing decision, but having a machine that you never have to worry about or feed expensive batterys to adds to the pleasure of the experience.

I have always used rechargeables and could not tell the difference on whether there is better depth, disc, etc.

Any opinions out there?
