Battery pack question

Why has minelab done away with the rechargeable pack and started using the rechargeable batteries? It is much more of a pain in the butt to take them in and out of the pack than to just plug right in to the pack itself. Where would be the best place to get the "old" rechargeable packs? Thanks.......Aron
 
you can get a sunray charger and cradle hat charges the packs from the battery contacts.. you can get a maha charger that will charge them from the contacts as well, but is a little bit of a pain to get contacts to line up, but works.. or you can get a sunray cradle and use the maha or other charger that has external wireing to hook up to the cradle.. I like my sunray the best, but I have the original and havent tried the new style.. I also have a maha 777 that works well too in conjunction with the cradle
