Anyone use the sand shark or the tiger shark detectors and what your thoughts on them for wet sand hunting at the ocean i have been using the cz5, do they compare in depth? i know the sand shark is a PI unit that's o.k i dig everything at the beach. 2 things i like about tesoro is the price and the warranty. just would like some input never used a tesoro.

I've got a Sand Shark and a CZ6a; have not used a Tiger Shark. I carry the CZ6a in it's normal position on the shaft so I can readily flip from autotune mode to discriminate 0. The Sand Shark balances much better than the CZ6a does the way I use it; so I can hunt more hours with the Sand Shark before getting worn out. Sand Shark with the 10.5 inch coil is about as deep as the CZ6a with the Sunray 12.5 inch coil in nice sand. With the same size coil, the Sand Shark is a little deeper.

Both detectors like relaxed coil sweep speeds, don't rush them.

In heavy black sand the CZ does fairly well but the Sand Shark does better; as you might expect from a pulse induction detector. I've hit some black sand areas where the Sand Shark would sound on the sand; and then I'd just have to slow the sweep speed down more and it would work just fine.

The headphones on the Sand Shark are one of my favorites. For me, they are comfortable, and they cut out a lot of the wind and wave noise. I use Koss QZ-99 noise reduction headphones on the CZ6A and they accomplish the same thing the Sand Shark headphones do, but after a long day, I can feel little rub areas with the QZ-99's that I don't with the Sand Shark headphones. Fit on headphones is different for different people; so that is just how those two work for me.

If it rains, you won't be caught out with the Sand Shark, but the CZ 5 will need a little protection. Sand Shark also crackles a little in the headphones when there is lightning approaching. A nice little early warning feature when you are holding onto a metal shaft!

If I think of more I'll come back and post more.
For now ...
Cheers,

Sand shark offers great depth and is not affected by salt water.

The Tiger Shark is very affected by wet salt sand even in salt mode.

The Tiger shark is more sensitive to small gold than the Sand Shark.

The Sand Shark offers no discrimination at all.

Those are the key differences that I found using both.
