Beach finds

Did a short 2 hour beach hunt today.
All of the coins are clad. One dime is a 1966.
All but 1 of the pennies are unreadable.....but all rang up as Zinc.
The lure rang up in the high dime area.

All items were found in "dry sand".
Been having trouble getting my Legacy 3500 to ground balance in "wet sand" with the stock 8" coil.
I'm thinking it's an "ID 10 T Operator" error......or better known as an "IDIOT OPERATOR" error! :nopity:
Have yet to find anything in "wet sand".

Well, you are hitting, so its a matter of coil time from here on out...you keep pounding away, a guy cant find anything sitting around in the house! I'd say you are in a good spot, those signals would have been snapped up by another detectorist, so thats a good sign there. there might be gold, so keep a sharp ear out for the foil signals.

Thanks Mud. My bride let me out Sat and Sun morning to hunt. Worked over some city tot lots yesterday. One of them I have been eyeing but had never hunted. I'm gonna nickname it "My Dime Box" because I pulled 6 dimes from it and not another coin type!!

Good job on the beach!
Just a thought but I see you have a tracker IV besides the legacy 3500. I tried a tracker IV and a pioneer 505 on the so Calif. beaches. The 505 did fine in the dry sand but nothing would stop it for going bonkers close to the water. The tracker IV however with it's automatic ground balance did just fine, including hunting even in the shallow water itself! Maybe you should get the Tracker out of the closet! Skill will usually trump technology.

Thanks Ed. You are right. I have pulled items from the shallow waters and wet sand with the Tracker IV. I'll take it with me on my next trip and see how it goes. I'm just so in love with the 3500 that I forget I have the Tracker IV.
