Beach Hunt :stars:

Well....

Second time with the Safari at a beach (salt water), not too HAPPY...

This time tried Andy's beach tips, to no avail...

I guess I am looking for tips for beach hunting! Tried the wet sand, dry sand, found only folded up cans!
Was in ferrous mode, did learn the different sounds, so it wasn't a total waste, just looking for advise.

My son used my Whites detector and found an ear ring and some coins! Me, just aluminum...ouch

Any suggests most welcomed!

Thanks in advance!

My Safari works great on the beach in the dry & the wet sand. You can't find what isn't there. I found a men's Titanium ring at a measured 14" in wet sand, quarters at 9-10" so its works. Just keep at it, if its there the Safari will find it. Don't pass up those iffy signals, that ring I found at 14" was not a good signal, I was able to pinpoint it, so I went for it. as I removed sand the signal got better. I can usually run max sensitivity on the beach where I went with no falsing, occasionally I have to back it down a little. Most importantly is GO SLOW. Good Luck

Conductive, low trash, auto sens for me. Wide open and dig everything in the wet. Screen out the iron in the dry and help rid the beach of aluminum. When you get sick of Al, go get wet again.

Very true!
Do you hunt the wet or dry sand? I guess I just have to get use to it more, I know if its there it will find it! Got to go SLOW, agreed!
Thanks for the advise!

Are you getting deeper sounds in the Conductive? Is the AL deep, too? I was in Ferrous.

Thanks for the info!

M

I cant say that I get deeper in Conductive as I rarely hunt Ferrous (just when bored mostly) and have no basis for comparison. There have been tones that were 'feet' in depth that I didn't/couldnt recover, but it could have been an automobile or a silver sewer pipe for all I know. Most finds are less than a foot(that's pretty much the practical limit in the wet because of hole collapse), but stuff is where you find it. fwiw, I have gone 15 minutes on the wet on a beach without a hit- some beaches are just cleaner than others.

TRUE....

I just thought in conductive the tone sound, I meant, was a deeper sound. Sorry about the confusion!

I really am starting to like the ALL METAL mode, just still learning the sounds!!

Agreed. When I first hunted the beaches, I used my standard park/schoolyard discrimination. But I got so bored not hearing anything, I eventually opened up everything in the + range. I dig almost everything anymore as I do feel some civic obligation to remove trash from the beach where kids play- just not ALL of it.

Agreed, rarely hunt in coin, coin/jewelry anymore. Spent an hour earlier this am on the beach (wet sand) in relic mode (my go to mode) and recovered clad : a nickel (14) dime (37) quarter (38 ) bobby pin (38 ) and lead sinker (35) with a friend who's just starting to md, visiting from Florida trying her new Garrett 150. She had a cent and dime and seemed to enjoy her maiden voyage swinging the coil.

My first time on the beach yesterday. I can't believe how deep the Safair goes. I was out only an hour found a few dimes then went to gold set-up. I found what looks like a piece for a watch, the size of a small nail head. It was a foot deep, I couldn't believe it. It came up as a 10 on a custom gold setting. I am not sure what it is, it is not gold. That was in wet sand.
