Beach hunting conditions

Just curious as to what you think makes good beach hunting conditions? Ive been hunting for the past month here in Fl. now that ive moved here and putting in a lot of hours. I was doing pretty good...... then bam the beach changed. In a week the beach went from a fast slop with a deep 3 ft drop off to almost level with no cuts. Targets in the water are all most none existent. The winds have had the wave action really high. There has been very low low tides.... now the winds have died down giving less tide action. For the next few days the low tides and high tides are consistently the same. Are these the kind of conditions that will start producing trenches and get me back to producing?

Any beach on the coast will change, some do it daily. Take time to really see what it is doing in order to pick the right area to hunt on any given day.
It sounds like you have been paying close attention in the area you hunt but what about what it's doing up or down the beach a few miles
away where you don't hunt. Go give them a look and a walk to see what they look like. One of the best things to do is fine some place in that
area and mark the sand depth. Do this in several places that will be there the next time you go in that area and keep a record of it, you'll be
surprised at the changes. You can't cover them all but you can learn a few well enough to use them as a back up when your normal area is not
to suite you. Also just go to see what the tides a doing in those areas. Never going is never knowing!

Thanks XT. I go about every day to one of the 3 beaches close to me so im starting to learn them. The tides and wind make a huge difference. Didnt have those huge waves today.... but there was just NOTHING in the water and only a few coins in the wet sand. The weekend are pretty busy still. Got out early and the water was way out with no waves to speak of .... great conditions but nothing in the cuts at all. These beaches are the cleanest i think ive ever hunted on..... not even much junk to dig. I rarely see another hunter or any scoop tracks where they have been.

I think you will find over time that the depth of the sand is the key to finding anything on any beach. The wind and tides move tons and tons
of sand in a very short time. The good stuff is still there it's just covered a little deeper some times due to this process, don't fight it, it's kind
of like playing poker, you have to know when to " hold em and when to fold em ". You can't beat Mother Nature !!!!!

My take was 688 coins and 1 gold ring. I hunted exclusively in the water and never found a cut. SO , my help is extremely limited!! sorry

I wish I could help but I'm a chesapeake bay hit and Im still trying to learn how it affects the sand for hunting in my area. I do know from surf fishing that high and low drops can change in a matter of a couple hrs with a good tide and right winds, maybe it will help to get a really good tide chart to not only get a peak time but also.get the height variation then you could start to coincide that with when and what you find..... just my 2 centsRocknut

I use an on line tide chart that gives me a lot of info.... its like fishing just takes time to put it all together and figure out what the results of it all is. It was just funny ..... just like fishing i stopped finding targets.
