Beach Hunting

I am going to Pismo beach next month. It will be my first opportunity to use the Scorpion on the beach. i would appreciate any suggestions and tips from the forum. Thanks - Jim

In the soft sand expect to dig up to a foot for coins.I use the motion mode ,don't need to ground balance, but when you get to the wet sand I found what works for me is I have a nickle glued to a long plastic tent stake and I will do what it takes to make the scorp sound off on the nickle pushed into the sand. maybe tr works best or all metal works ,just tune it till you get sound .In wet sand you will have reduced depth. A sand scoop is priceless for covering a lot of ground, Make one if you have to and have at least a 3' handle braced to the scoop. The scorp is going to find a lot of targets so be ready to dig.
Good Luck . Moondog

Thank you for your help. I do a lot of prospecting but this will be my first attempt at detecting at the beach.
