Beach hunting

What kind of results are you guys getting on fresh water beaches with the impact?

The machine runs flawless in and out of the water. I found a silver bracelet, ring and a SLQ at a local lake. Drill a small hole in the end of your lower shaft to drain the water out. If you tip the machine back the water can run backwards through the shaft into your rear box.

Thank you Mudwhale thats great to hear and excellent tip about the water not getting in.

For the most part, Fresh water beaches are no different than hunting any other soil. It's the wet saltwater sand (due to the salt) that really impacts VLF detectors. The Impact and Racers do perform better on saltwater wet sand than any other single frequency detector I've used in 42 years of detecting.

Have you tried COG mode yet? I have used it on some really weird ground here where the Impact got too noisy. I suspect it was spent coal dumped. Cog mode worked great and was the only mode that was stable enough.

Yes I've used the COG (Beach) mode a number of times on both the wet saltwater beach sand and in high EMI areas. There is definitely something going on in the programing besides just the fact that it ground balances lower, into the salt range. COG also allows the Impact to run quieter overall.
