Howdy,
Since I had some success at a site last weekend with the 8x6 SEF, I wanted to go back over it with the Pro coil to get some more coverage and a bit more depth. Guess I at least got more coverage, and maybe some depth helped with these (although I suspect the 8x6 could have been coaxed into finding them).
What was really unusual for me was finding three silvers in a row before I found the first Wheat. And then that was it for the Wheats! So I ended up 3 to 1 in favor of silvers for the day. I saw the date on the Wheat, and was really, really hoping to see a 'D' mintmark appear, but it just wasn't there. Still happy with the condition of it though, as it escaped getting the 'crud' on it and cleaned up nicely.
The Mercs must have each been dropped when they were fairly new, which helps me date the site. I found no clad there - just a couple Memorials and these older ones. I've been there a couple times now, and the signals are pretty dwindled. But there are some trashier spots that could cough up a few more goodies with time and effort I think. Probably will put on backburner for now, as it's a bit of a drive.
Have a 12x15 SEF on the way to try at nearby sites that have dried up on finds, but that have indications of depth possibilities. Guess I'll try at least.
