beautiful day, bleak finds

for this time of year you couldnt beat todays weather.......minimal wind, plenty of sun, one sweatshirt kinda weather.
the beach I hunted had a long slow slope with next to no low spots and I had to bob and weave in between the surf fishermen. I think they are catching blues this time of year but I cant be sure, none of them I saw where having any luck e i t h e r.

all the finds were real deep, a foot or so. I only had the small tornado on but it still found a share of coins but could not locate any gold for me:shrug:

one coin of interest, a 1942 penny with a hole drilled in it and a copper ring on it. why would anyone drill out a penny and do that?

At least you got out , the goods will com along

I cant tell you how many large cents ive found with holes.... what a shame. I did some testing with my Xcal straight shaft i made.... it was a sunny day here with a good bit of wind..... but the wind was blowing the right way knocking down all the waves.... pretty calm.

The only reason I can think of ( for the 1942 penny with copper ring) is that it was the person's birth year and wanted to make a necklace / charm. different strokes for different folks.... I will agree Neil, it was a beautiful day here in CT as well.It started out around 22 degrees this morning but warmed up close to 60. Got out for a while myself at the carnival field and pulled about 2.00 + in clad. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy the day - Jim

I remember back in the 50s there were bracelets made out of coins. These had holes drilled into them and a coper ring would hold them on the bracelet. I think I have one around that has Canadian pennies on it.
