Bed of nails

Southwind

Well-known member
Years ago I found a 1955 large cent directly across the street from the house I own today and in the front between the sidewalk and curb I found a 1909 wheat & Indian stuck together. I always felt my front yard should be good but it is so full of nails it has been not good. My Minelabs just null over the entire yard no matter how slow I move. I have a test garden where I buried a quarter, dime, nickle and a penny about 4" deep and none of my detector hit on any of them. My DFX with the 6x10 and the CTX made a slight sound on the dime but nothing on the others. I took the Deus over the area and recovered all but the quarter. I the process I found why my yard was so bad. It is full of nails as if someone just spread boxes of nails all over the yard. I started going over the yard with the Deus and got a few good tones among the grunts and pulled a couple things I'm not sure what they are but could well have been coins. I only hit about a 5' square last night and hope to hit more this weekend. This is what I pulled.

Nice find and pics! The XP is the best iron machine I have used! Your post is more proof!

Very good! Keep at it! You never know.

You have to wonder about setting and tweaking them for you ground the more nails you remove the more you may find,,,but having wet or damp nails are a real tough on any machine..

southwind, what you described is what 90% of my sites are like and the reason the deus has become my primary machine... II still cant believe the finds I keep making at spots I have used numerous detectors at...
