Been Busy

TURNMASTER

Active member
It was to hot for me this summer to get much hunting in. I finally got out twice this week for a few hours. Did not find much to brag about. I will have to post pics cause there was a neat pocket watch cover, but it is at work.

I have been toying with making a custom knife and a straight razor and building a tool box for the garage. I finished the razor and ugly as it is it shaves great. Which makes it much more attractive than it actually is. The tool box has been slow going and I have been having a hard time staying busy on it. The Mrs has been ill and had to have an operation, so I have been picking up a lot of slack at home as well. But things seem to be breaking loose and I can get back out and hunt some. It has been tough to find the motivation to do to much detecting before work (now work swing) but I am starting to get into the swing of things. pun intended 2x

Nice to meet you, great job on the blade.

Well everyone takes a turn in life at things - both good & bad.
The razor looks neat - I presume you hammered it out Where do you get the high grade steel to start with ? Steve in so az

How is your wife doing now?

In revers order.

Mike, She is on the mend and starting to feel better, we went for a walk around the block and a trip to the dollar store today, she is about 10 days out now. That is about the most she has done in about 3 to 4 wks. Glad I'm male.

Ma, They do call them "cut throats", and yes in fact sharp enough to shave (haha)

Steve, I actually ground it out of an old dull Simonds file. The next one I think I will use O1 tool steel. I am not quite up to hand forging yet but maybe in the future. Man I con't fathom how you guys endure those desert summers.

Hank, Nice to meet you too, very kind of you to say as it is somewhat below my own standards. Thus the reason for making another, the first was simply to see if I could fashion one from a chunk of what was otherwise scrap metal.

the one word you don't want to use is OOOOOOOOPPPPS. !!!!!!!! Just Kidding. Great Job. PEACE:RONB

Need to make a. Digging knife !

The last ooops was an ouch and left a scar.

I'll make a digger when I build a forge. It's been on my mind a little, but there are other projects that are more pressing.

Jeff

Feeling better bits at a time and now released to drive.
