Been digging at least a little this year

Haven't had much time to get out as I'd like but we have gotten out a few times. The year started out pretty good and hasn't let up a lot. The highlights have been a Massachusetts militia hatipin I found at an early war site, an officer's rosette, and an infantry hunting horn hatpin.

Unfortunately it's getting warm down here. That means the sand gnats and mosquitoes the size of small bats will be coming out. Just have to get out before it gets to roasting down here.

Good Hunting,

Richard

A few more pictures. I know, I whacked the hunting horn. It was about 15 inches down. I should have known. Neat canteen stopper.

[size=medium]Very nice finds!. You must be digging in some good sandy soil based on the patina and shape of that brass.

Correct you are. Very sandy mulch on the SC coast. With the drainage so efficient in this type of soil, the relics turn out stunning at times.

Appreciate it! I love digging even eagle buttons in this stuff.

Been meaning to post more but always get caught up in yet another project.
