beginning to hate my deus

I am speculating cuz it is almost impossible (i did say "almost") to have two coils in a row be bad. Have you adjusted the concussion settings? I had to adjust mine on notch and it is quite as a church mouse.

You're referring to ground notch correct?

Berntout- please explain why you would say or think that?
Again it only would do this falsing when coil was bumped or touched. I could hold the coil in air wiggle shaft and it would go off randomly. So im curious what would make you think its the remote r headphones???

Im open to any suggestions :) Thanks :)

Hi Hunter I to had gotten my deus with some strange crazy chattering going on. Mine was when I would bump the coil on the ground it would just start going off like a machine gun. Moe had me send everything back to him and called me on my cell phone and said indeed my coil was bad and shipped everything back with a new coil and I got the same results. So I called Moe and he had me send everything once again to test coil, remote and backphones. I was told the coil, backphones were checking fine but the remote was a bit more difficult to check. In short he sent my coil and backphones home to me with the addition of a brand new remote. Lo and behold it turned out for me at least that the remote was bad. All the crazy chattering was gone, well I can make it chatter if I want to set it that way but since then my deus has been a beast.

In short , albeit it was very frustrating and discouraging but in the end the service I got from Moe and detector electronics was top notch. They never gave up trying to appease me, and my machine has been flawless ever since. So don't give up suggest the remote to be replaced and see what happens.

Good Luck
Eric

Thank you eric :)

The second coil they sent me was accidently done. It had a blue repair sticker on it under the cover. But the one I received yesterday came in the XP box still wrapped in paper. If this one fails with issues ill be looking into the remote as the source :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend and I appreciate each and everyone of you who reply to help me out :)

I would ask them if it would be possible to send the whole unit back for a brand new replacement. Nobody should have problems with a brand new machine.

Yes ground notch. I set ground notch one notch higher and happy as can be.
I am anxious to hear a report regarding the new coil.

But what has your dealer done to support you in this? For a new detector to be giving you the grief it is and the dealer that sold it to you - friend or not - to simply pawn you off on the distributor seems a bit troubling. At the very least he / she should have offered to provide you some assistance in determining what the issue is (coil, control unit, both, etc.) and as in the case of several dealers I know, offer to provide you with a loaner and shipped the components that needed to be checked out back to the service center without you being involved.

I know we talked and you were going to get back to me with some feedback so I can't comment on what transpired since that time since I never heard back from you but at this point I question if it is simply the coil. Have you moved the coil away from the control unit far enough that it does not see it and look at the response on the control unit? Is it stable or erratic? If it is still acting odd, you have an issue with the control unit which may be in addition to the coil but without doing some step-by-step checks which is what I was hoping I could help you with, you may simply be addressing half the problem.

Not saying electronics never have issues but I will say I have had less problems with XP units that other brands of late. Coil problems are few and far between so to get two bad ones back to back makes me wonder if there is another issue afoot.

Just some thoughts / comments from the peanut gallery

Thanks andy. I can see me having the first coil as a issue as Moe said that a few 11inch specifically did come out bad. However the second coil was a mistake that deus sent a repaired but failed qc coil that had a blue sticker under the coil cover. So that one we can count out. Really all in all I had one coil issue as im not counting the second one.
also I didn't return your call as we both agreed when I put it in the air and wiggled it and placed the headphones near the phone you could here the noise it was making and also agreed it sounded like a bad coil. After that day I have basically been waiting for the replacement and when I received the replacement it was a failed. I still don't think that the dealer has anything to do with this though. After 2 months or so owning and having a issue I believe that's what my WARRANTY is for :)

But I very well could be wrong. You Andy have been in this business quite some time and probably no more now than ill ever know and I appreciate your feedback. But I think xp deus electronics should step up to the issue. And for that they have and done so well :)

Hunter, have you tested the latest received coil yet?

No sir. I did put I the new serial number and fired it up. She sounds great. No issues but that was inside the house just scanning the floor. However once taken out to the field will be tomorrow around noon-ish :)

I had an issue with my coil nine inch that came with the machine when it was a couple of months out of warranty anyway I'm in the UK so France ain't far away !I spoke to XP direct and there advice was to send the control box plus headphone unit and coil back to France ,which I did ..if you've problem wether your taking it back to your dealer personally , or you've got to post it send all the pieces back less the shaft ,get it all checked out .

When we spoke, it sounded like there was coil problem and that was confirmed by Moe. I woudl have also suggested that you take teh controller away from the coil and turn it on - so it does not pick up the coil. Does teh controller dispaly bounce around or chatter . . .if so, there is also somethign wrong with either the software or electronics in the controller.

I have a customer that had an issue and sent me the pieces to see what might be the issue - operator error or equipment issues. I was able to zero in on the problem being the controller and returned the coil and puck to him so at least he can hunt until the one piece gets back.

Let us know what you find out when you try the new coil
