belt buckle derringer

Went out for a couple hours yesterday. Didn't find much for coinage but did find an 1867 Remington belt buckle derringer made in 1959 made by Mattel. Its not much but I thought it was pretty cool. After cleaning it up, it actually works, wish I could have found the complete buckle. Picture on the right is what they looked like new.

That is one cool find! I'm also wondering if it's a toy? or a real working and functioning gun? Is the barrel rifled or smooth?

Its a smooth barrel and it was a toy. But it shot a plastic bullet that "could put your eye out!". Ha ha. At first I thought maybe it could be real, I have a friend that has a real one that shoots a .25 cal.
