I just read a post about one detectorist trashing the detector another newby detectorist was using.
So what are the best and worst detectors out there.
It's pretty simple. The best detector out there is the one you have in your hand if you have put the effort in to learn the machine, practiced with it and read everything you can about it, and it does what you need it to do so you can feel good about your accomplishments and enjoy the hobby. Not real complicated.
For all of the newcomers or newby's please remember this: it doesn't matter how many bells and whistles a detector has or how much it costs. The most important consideration is will it do what you want it to do if you spend the time and effort to learn it. 99% of all of the detectors on the market from a $39 detector to the $2500 detector will find treasure. It all depends on how well you learn the machine and how much research you are willing to do and a lot of luck thrown in or good measure. All newby's, do not let anyone tell you which detector is best or worst. Research all of the detectors that do what you want to do and make up your own mind. Read, ask specific questions on the forum and then make your decision.
The worst detector out there is the one you buy use it once and never use it again.
