Best approach to trashy area with grass/brush

What is the best approach to hunting areas with lots of tall grass, brush and trash?

The situation I'm considering is some old mining towns that have extensive amounts of vacant homes, buildings etc... that can be hunted. The problem I came across is that the grass is about knee high (I'm 6 ft), there is some sage/grease brush and lots of nails.

I have the 705 with the stock coil. Thanks for any tips!!

If you can take a brush cutter with you, it might make like a bit easier, otherwise, you may not be able to get your coil close enough to the ground.

With the stock coil, your only choice may be to clear the area. Without clearing the area, a 6" coil may be a lot more helpful. If you can't get as close to the ground as you would like, I would be sure that you have your sensitivity set as high as the conditions will allow.

If it is a remote area, I'm sure the owners would not mind you clearing some brush. Just find a rental place and get one of these bad boys!!!

I use the 5 x 10 coil and stomp down the grass as I go. after a couple trips you will find the grass won't spr;ing back up and makes for much eaiser progress.

Take a sheet of plywood with ya. Lay it down, jump on it, and detect right over the plywood. It's a pain, but it would work.
