Best Coil? 5.3 or 4x6 or any suggestions?

I was wondering about a smaller coil for the V3i, the Whites 5.3 or 4x6 Shooter? Or another brand for a smaller coil than the stock 10DD?

Thanks- Rick

I have neither but I've been reading a ton about both (just searching here and at the White's forum). It seems more people go with the 4X6 over the 5.3. The 4X6 has better separation and roughly the same coverage. The 5.3 has better depth.

I am pretty sure I'll get the 4X6 as though the depth is a concern, how often can you even use it in trashy spots? I wonder what the depth difference is?

I use both coils. I live in N W Texas and our minerals aren't too bad. I like to hunt residential and use the 5.3 most of the time. Depth is not a worry.
I also prospect in Colorado where the minerals are nasty. Around the old mine dumps and tailings I prefer the 4x6 and again depth is not a worry. I do use the 10" DD in Colorado and have used it on residential in Denver. There are some really old yards there:clapping:
If you live/hunt in a higher mineral setting the 4x6 might be your best bet, however if you mainly coin shoot in moderate to low minerals, I recommend the 5.3 concentric.
Regardless of your choice, you will probably do quite well with them hooked up to a Vxxx.

I have them both along with the 6x10. You really can't go wrong with either coil. The 4x6 will give you better separation than the 5.3 due to being a DD coil. Also I found you can get closer to swing sets and metal poles with the 4x6 coil.

there both great coils, The 4x6 is more suited for parks / tot Lots type of hunting
