best coil for a 3500 in woods

snaps

New member
Hi, this is fairly mild, sandy soil.Lookin mainly for real deep civil war era stuff(mainly bullets) in some fairly thick swampy, briary woods. Thanx for the help! Snaps

You can't find a better coil then the 11" DD. I have used the 11" DD at DIV and found stuff as deep as 19". If the soil is free of trash then I would go with a 11" mono. You will get a little added depth with it.

If you want to get closer to trees etc. I'd use a Coiltek Platypus 8x12" DD. It's a good accessory coil addition. And if the soil is trash free you have the Coiltek 9x13" or 12x19" Monos.

Thanks Scott!! Im gonna stick w/ the 11 incher and look into the coilteck stuff

The Commander 15x12 is a great coil, If you have room to swing it.

IMEO Nugget Finder is a better choice then Coiltek Goldstalkers. the NF is fully potted, wound with litz wire and waterproof to 2 meters and has a longer warranty and costs less.
The Goldstalkers by Coiltek the windings are held on a foam blank with masking tape this becomes loose with age and is very prone to false signals.

here is a video I made demonstrating the stability of NF coils, try that with a goldstalker!
