Hi just bought the 705 gold pack and was wondering what other coils I should get for the machine

Thanks for your help

Need more info Matt. Like what are you hunting for, and what sort of soil conditions will you be hunting in?

A good "all-rounder" would be the MF (7.5kHz) coil. A DD configuration coil will do better in areas of higher amounts of undesireable objects.

Your Gold Pack came with a 5x10 eliptical HF (18.75kHz) coil, which is best for gold, fine or small jewelery, highly mineralized ground, and trashy sites.
The LF (3kHz) coil will lock on coins (silver & copper) and conductive relics better than the others, and see deeper in mild soil conditions.

I'd recommend the 10" MF(7.5kHz) DD. It's - by far - my favorite of the three that I have. (10" MF DD, 5x10" HF DD, 9" MF)

I have both the 10.5" MF & HF. For at least a year now I really thought that I was doing much better with the HF than the MF. Over the last few months I'm really not convinced that one is that much better than the other. The HF in my soil may be slightly better. I do really well with both coils but I will say they are different animals. Coins sound a little different and respond a little different between the two coils. I find myself just automatically knowing the difference between the sounds and ID's when I go from one coil to another so it's not a big deal.

For me, nickels jump right out with the high frequency where with the medium frequency they are not quite as distinct.

I would say to seriously consider one of the 10.5" DD coils. They were a little heavy the first season that I used them but now, I don't think anything of the weight.

6" DD 18.75 khz can not be beat in heavy trash. The 5x10 is also great in trash.
To many choices and they all have merits.

Jeff

If your GB numbers are single digits, and your sens is down to fifteen or less, you'd do better with a higher frequence DD. ;)

Really, it's all relative. You can still find things with most any coil, but you might not be achieving maximum depth that a different coil could.

Very True.... My GB numbers are between 7-13 usually in Arizona's highly mineralized soil and i was using the 9" MF concentric coil so i went out and bought a 9x5 DD HF Ellipical coil and had much improvement over the original concentric coil in my area
