Best day so far with Ace

Well today i finally found something besides coins and Junk. I found and old Old Timer pocket knife, a cheap bracelet, part of an ear ring, a cheap ring, part of a pair of sunglasses, a lighter, a pencil, a battery, $3.64 in change, and the usual Junk. Still no gold and diamond rings though. :( I am really starting to like this little Ace 250. Sure glad now i decided to keep it.

I call these sorts of days "payin my dues"!

There have been a lot of them and will be more.

I tell folks and mean it, "It's not about the money!", if it was I would do something else.

I like it a lot more than chasing a little white ball all over the place or any other "hobby" I can think of.

Looks to me like you had a good day!

Looks like a good day to me rebel!! WTG:detecting:

Looked a lot better than being at work! Which is where I was all day! Good for you rebel!

If your finding the pulltabs and nickels you'll get the rings .

Looks like you did good to me, Nice assortment of stuff showing
you certainly aren't afraid of digging some questionable things.
Are you digging targets in the foil area ? Just wondered as many
of the small, thin gold rings that I have dug hit right at foil.
Foil is the area that I really key in on. Anything that reads as foil
I am digging. Lots of foil but the small gold that a lot of folks
pass right over is in there too. Takes a lot of patience but when
you get the gold you will see it's worth it. Best of luck going after
the gold....and getting it ! Gene

Yep. I don't even know why i need all these tones and ID as i dig everything pretty much hoping for the Gold. I am thinking about a Tesoro Silver Umax to supplement the Ace with.

You may not need all those tones and I.D. digging almost
everything but it is nice to have on those days when you
just want to select certain I.D.'s to dig. Don't think that
the Tesoro will find more than what you are using now.
Just stick with it. When you grid an area dig everyhting
in the range that you have set in your mind to dig
beforehand. Don't skip over any signals. The one you
skip could be "the one". Most gold jewelry on land isn't
very deep in my experience. You may be surprised at
that when you dig your first gold. The Ace is a good one
but may take some time to realize it's full potential.
Takes a lot of determination to be a gold jewelry hunter
on dry land. Just dig all the signals that you feel are
potentially gold jewelry targets. Leave nothing to chance.
You will end up with more junk than the coin hunters
but you will also end up with more gold. I am speaking
from experience, not from anything I have read or heard.
I am not a coin hunter. You have the right attitude.
Just keep at it. It's not the type of detector that makes
the best finds, or how many detectors you have, it's the
person standing behind it. HH Gene

Thanks Gene, sound advice. I want the Tesoro as well as the Ace so that i have a backup if one has to go in for repairs. Also like the light weight of the Tesoros. But the little Ace seems to be a great little machine, especially for the money. Just going to take me more time to really learn it well.

Learn whatever detector you like well and you will be rewarded.
Wont happen overnight but you will get there. Determination
and persistence go a long way and I see you have plenty of
that. When you can start to call what you are going to dig
while it's still in the ground you will be on your way to some
great finds. Spend less time on those targets you believe to
be trash and then you will have more time for the "better"
targets. That's the way I look at it anyhow.
Good hunting to you and I hope to hear you find a gold
ring very soon.

Yeah foil and most gold fall into the same conductivity range. Leave that foil behind and you leave some nice gold for the next savvy hunter.

Thanks UW. Actually the Compadre runs at 12 khz and the Silver Umax runs at 10. But both are higher than the Ace. Also owe a lot on the finds to the new Garrett Pro Pointer. This was the first day i had it out to try it out and it sure does make things easier.

Yeah you're right and I know, I hit the wrong key, and I own a Compadre. HA. Got my tongue wrapped around my eye teeth and couldn't see what I was typing. :) I owned a lot of Tesoros over the years ever since Jack Gifford started pumping them out. Used to belong to Tesoro's writers club and field tested a few of their tectors. But the 250 will do anything a Tesoro will do and the PP is a real handy gadget and Garrett sells a ton of them. Keep practicing with that Ace and it will reward you well. Garrett stuck things in there that are only found on more expensive machines which is why it outsells everything else out there. Will be loking forward to your success. Good luck.

I wont say that it doesn't matter which sort or brand of detector you have, because it does....to you! Now that you/re using the Ace, get used to it and learn about it and detecting. Then, when you feel that you, as a detectorist have outgrown the Ace, think about another detector. You've got the right idea about recovering targets. The gold will come. Be content to learn, but the main thing is to enjoy the experience.
