Best for land hunting?

I'm now very close to being able to purchase a quality metal detector and believe while depth isn't everything, it sure helps you make the older finds. I am trying to decide between the Quattro and Explorer. I like what I read about the Quattro but read that it is deeper on beaches and the Explorer is deeper on land. I never have hunted water and mostly will be hunting for civil war relics and coins. I know of some areas that I will hunt that will be laden with "aluminum artifacts" although most of the areas I hunt are not too trashy. I love gadgets so the adjustments won't intimidate me. Any input would be appreciated.

I was also trying to decide between the Quattro and the Exp II. It came down to versatility. The added programmability on the Exp II is what made me decide on it.

As far as depth is concerned, I hunt primarily at the beach and can tell you that the ExpII gets some incredible depth in the wet packed sand. Get a big, strong scoop and be prepared to dig really deep. I've never read anything about the Quattro reading deeper at the beach... Comparing it to my CZ20, the ExpII is much more sensitive to small objects with better discrimination and depth. Competition at the beach where I hunt is pretty fierce and I know I've found things with the Exp that others simply could not find.

With the ExpII (read some of Cody's posts on learn / edit / reject), you can eliminate a great deal of the common trash where you're hunting. It gives you the ability to hunt sucessfully in very trashy areas. That's the big difference between the Quattro and the ExpII.

It took a bit for me to get the hang of this thing, but the more I use it, the more impressed I am with it.
