Best Settings for DEEP silvers in parks??:detecting:

SilverBear

New member
Hey guys, I plan on going to some parks soon all over California and I am planning on looking for some deep silvers. I have seem some people post their settings that they usually use but I can not find them anymore. If you have had extreme success with some custom settings for deep silvers and do not mind sharing them, please post them here so other people and myself can use them! Happy hunting everyone!

Still looking for that dang Barber! :help:

When searching for deep coins, I like to run the sensitivity in manual and as high as possible without causing the E-Trac to become unstable (to much falsing, chirps, etc..). See what the sensitivity is in Auto and try running several numbers above it. The E-Trac seems to go into some type of boost mode when the sensitivity is at or above 25. If it's to unstable running high manual, run in Auto + 3. Turn Deep "On" to help hear the iffy signals. See if the soil condition will let you run Ground in "Neutral" which allows the E-Trac to run at a higher Auto sensitivity. If the area is relatively clean (very little trash), set Trash Density to "low" and Fast "Off". Trash Density on "high" and Fast "On" will shorten your tones and makes it more difficult to hear the iffy signals.

Thank you so much for your help! I will definitely be taking notes from this =P

Listen to the advice that Bart and Steve has given you...I have found several silvers at depths of 8-10" over the past month employing their techniques. Cheers!

Forgot to mention, that there is a Trashy Park program called "Bill's Trashy Park Program" that I know Rolladex and Eva (Banditicey) use and have great success with. Not sure where they got it. Maybe they will respond to this post with the info, or you could send them a PM. Good luck and post your finds.

Thanks guys,

Yeah I will be taking it very slow and if I get a good deep signal, I am digging =P I will post my finds (If i get any) on here later tonight

It can be looked up under topics

I have been very successful with it but it will not pick up ALL the GOLD SIGNALS

I did find Four Gold Rings with the Program but I tested my coil with my Gold Ring and it did not pick it up:confused:

Either way Gold does not come under our coils very often and it is still a GREAT PROGRAM!

Here is my two cents worth,,,,,
-run sens in man at or above 25 if you can live with the noise,,,,,
-use LONG tones , this will make a very noticeable difference in the chirps and blips and a good target,,,, the good targets will jump out at you thru the chirps with a long distinct tone.
With all due respect to the first responder ,,,,,
-run in ground difficult,,,, ground neutral is for aerated soil like sand and plowed fields.
- ALWAYS run in "trash high", this will tell the etrac to sound off on a good target even if a rejected and larger target is present, even if it's a bigger target than the good one. If the etrac is set to trash low it will report the LARGEST target under the coil,,,,, this would give you a null ( assuming you have that target disc out, like a big piece of foil) instead of a high tone of a smaller coin sized target.
-Leave the "deep on" in the "deep off" position,,,, all it dose is run a signal thru more filtering to help decide what it is,,,,, test have shown that this setting does little more than slow the TID and does not give a consistent reading with multiple passes.
-You can run fast on if you like, I do in heavy trash and it supposedly clips the front and rear portions of the signal off to help get ready for the next signal,,,, but when using "long tones" it has little effect and you still hear a good target thru all the chirps.
=absolutely go slow and if you hear and see a long tone and a good number go over if several times passing the coil COMPLETELY over the target from one side to the other,,,,, from clean ground over target back to clean ground...... if needed flip it to Quick mask this will clear up allot of iffy signals and if you see good numbers DIG !!!
-I all so use PP mode which is as close to all metal you can get with the etrac.... look at where the cursor goes and if it stays up in the upper 2/3 's of the screen and sounds like a small target DIG!!!!
all these tricks just give you a set of clues as to dig it or not,,,,, after running all these tests thru if you cannot make up in your own mind if it's good or not,,,,, better to dig and be sure,,,,, this is just how I roll,,,,, take all the advice you get and make it work for you HH

The long audio response is great in really trashy areas...but man oh man does it take patience to use...you have to go really slow...but if there's a good target in all the heavy trash you will most certainly be able to pick it out...I use it when around places like picnic tables and places where construction and destruction have taken place..it is a winner if you have the patience to try it...

really ? I have not found it to be like that for me, slow in the trash cuz of the trash,, not long tones,,, as a matter of fact I can go faster cuz I know when the coil goes over a good target the etrac will howl

I use Bill S' trashy park pattern, but have modified it slightly to accept gold signals that I tested at various depths using my ring and a charm. Sure, I get pull tabs and foil, but how else will I find gold if I don't open it up a little. Great pattern, and I've been VERY successful using it. 70 silvers on the year, and 50 of those at least are on this pattern.
