best settings for seeded hunt

Turn the sensitivity way down, because you will be looking for surface targets.

Let us know how you do...

For a seeded hunt your settings are not the key to success. Thinking is the key. Knowing you machine and getting the right settings are very helpful but it is focus and strategy that are the bigger factors for great results. Most finds are in the first few minutes. You cannot waste time chimping your finds or taking too long to recover a target. Be sure you are not missing a secondary item- resweep the hole to be sure there is not another target there, then move on.
Just my 2 cents based on a decade of 4 planted/seeded hunts a year.

Find a frequency that is quiet and back off of the sensitivity. More important go slow. Take baby steps to make sure that your coil is passing over every inch of ground with no zig-zag gaps. Pay no attention to those taking giant steps and swinging the coil a foot off the ground at each end of the swing.
Keeping you cool and going slow will render good results. Oh and make sure to check other's holes. You will be amazed at how many times they do not find their target.

You cannot go slow during the start of a seeded hunt. Most coins are found in the first 10 minutes. You have to hustle during this time frame. You cannot waste time on a target. If you cannot locate it & pop it out of the ground quickly, then just move on. Once the coin finds slow down, then it is time to slow down & make sure you are covering the area thoroughly. Know your detector, someone searching close to you may be interfering with your detector. A detector with frequency shift is very beneficial during a competition hunt. Know what your tokens are if possible. You do not want to be hunting for stamped aluminum tokens & have your discrimination set so high that you are missing the tokens. Competition hunts are a lot of fun...

When to a seeded hunt in Texas a couple of weekends ago. Ran discrimination up to 90. Turned iron off. Turned sensitivity down to 80. Lost some nickels & Indians hunting this way. But I only wanted to find silver. ORX worked great for this type of hunt. Image shows my results from this hunt. Looking forward to next year’s hunt.
