best way to discriminate iron with Ace 400

Does the iron range on the 400 go from smaller to larger iron sizes or vice versa and also if looking for iron relics of larger sizes like a knife w/o hits on nails etc. What should I enable or notch out? Also am i not using the sensitivity setting correctly to accomplish this. I've read different statements that discrimination deals mainly with size vs depth but on my unit if I go below more than one or two levels I seem to lose almost all signals. Any insight on using my 400 is appreciated.

Sensitivity deals more with size and depth, discrimination deals with the conductivity of the target (the type of metal). Slowly sweeping the coil over the target can tell you more about the size of the target.

No, but by decreasing your sensitivity you will ignore smaller objects, but you will also lose out on depth.
