best way to store batteries

Is there a best way to store the batteries for the v3? I have 2 batteries, and was wonder how to keep them
in good shape during the 4 or more months that the machine is not in use. Some batteries seem to last longer if they
are drawn way down and then recharged, some leave them in the charger all the time, any ideas.

Discharging NIMH is not a procedure used like with NICAD batteries. The procedures are the same for the various brands.

Because long term storage can accelerate battery self-discharge, and lead to the deactivation of reactants, locations where the temperature ranges between +10

My V3i owner's manual states:
It is recommended that the battery be removed from the Spectra during periods of storage. It is not advisable to store rechargeable batteries for long periods of time without use (six+ months). If extended storage is necessary, store with a charge (charged). If possible, recharge at least once every six months of non-use.
Unnecessary discharging and/or an absolute discharge will reduce battery life and may damage the battery.
