Best way to use XS in Trash?

Eric

New member
Hunting with 8'' ml coil. Is it the best way to reduce the sensitivity a lot?

thanks, Eric.

hey eric..If its very heavy trash, I would reduce sens a little...u dont want the machine too hot in that much crap.Your sweep should be very slow..I take about 4 seconds for each sweep..sometimes even slower depending on where I am. Fast on if you have too. I like it off unless I need it because the signal becomes very chirpy to me. But sometimes you have no choice. Conduct or ferrous is your choice. I like ferrous because alot of the parks I hunt are loaded with Iron. If you have alot of bottlecaps in the trash, you may want conduct because they will sound lower in tone. Then again you can discriminate them if you want. So many different ways to hunt in the trash. Take your time with it and you will be pulling nice stuff from the junk..Good luck!:usaflag:

Honestly, if it is a really trashy area, the 8 inch coil can still be too big.....it all depends on what type of trash and how deep everything is....iron trash is like a blanket....it blankets the ground to mask alot more...if your talking tabs and foil and other solid trash that does not break up and disperse....well then it is a diff. story. I like to hit heavy trash with a small coil, with sens. down to 12....then work my way up...depends on any finds....I also like to slap on a good coil with great seperation like the Pro 11" coil and do the same thing...start low and work my way up on sens......it is called experimenting....I never use fast on....and would never use deep on in trash.....gain at 7 or 8....and go slow....circle targets that have a hint of good sound...audio sound is key with the explorers...which reminds me....set your Limits, variability, and th.tone to get the best seperation of diff. coins before heading out...you will be amazed at how diff each will change the tone of targets....Good luck....you really need someone with a ML Explorer to join you.
