Better Than Nothing

I haven't been out detecting much lately. Mostly because of work, but also because it's been so darned hot & dry. And in the interest of full disclosure, the few times that I have gotten out I've been learning the Explorer SE better.

So today I decided that I needed to get back to the 705. And since I've hit everything close to home so hard that finds are few and far between, I wanted to try somewhere new. With barely any research, I planned to hit a school not far away in a town that was founded in 1877.
Immediately upon arrival, I found that someone else had been there detecting recently.....but they didn't even begin to get it all.

An old flattend aluminum cap from a flask, an astrology key fob, a couple of sports pins, a cheap kids dog pin, and a dog ID tag were the relic finds.
I started finding 60's clad and memorials right away, so I knew that there had to be a few good keepers there somewhere.....and I was right.

Nothing to write home about (yet), but I got '58D & '20(plain) Wheats, a pretty nice '46 King George penny, and a '60 Rosie.

I'll certainly be going back there, as I've mearly scratched the surface.

It's a silver coin and that's what counts. I only got one silver coin yesterday and it was a Rosie too.

Based on the dates of what you have found so far, I have a feeling that you in for a few nice surprises.

Have fun!!

You were right!
I went back there today hoping to do at least as well....and I did.

A couple more Wheats ('46 & '49), and a 1907 Barber Quarter. :super:
