No thanks, as I don't care for the New International Version! The KJV, yes! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

AMEN Ma. The NIV is not for me. Any version that omits God from the verse is not right. Read Matthew 6:33 in the KJV. Read the same verse in the NIV and what did they do? Omit God and use the word his, and don't even give that the proper name. At least the KJV says whose kingdom it is. The NIV says his kingdom. To someone who does not know Christ, to read the NIV would not give them any direction to God by reading this verse by itself. Don't care for many newer Bible translations. I will stick to the One True Version that tells it like it is.

I GIVE THIS VERSION A BIG THUMBS DOWN.

I too like the King James Version of God's Word but it is good to read many different versions to get a complete and clear understanding of what God wants us to know. For instance, I have a Bible (Old Testament) written by the Jewish Publication Society that reads somewhat different than the Kings James Version and is a a much closer rendition of the original Hebrew. And...in the case of the New International Version relating to the version you have quoted, DK, the verse in the NIV does say "...seek you His kingdom..." referring to God spoken by Jesus. The King James Version of God's Word is an old and trusted version but it's by no means the version to end all versions, as the King James Version also has omissions.

Is "His" capitalized in the NIV? Or is it in small letters? If you were unsaved and read this verse only, would you know it was talking about God? I think God being in the verse as with the KJV makes it kind of clear to ALL who may read it. Did not say the KJV was the version to end all versions. I don't like taking God out of the verse. Read the orginal Greek text. Do you see "his" there? Again, how does one know, especially someone unsaved, the "his" in the NIV refers to God, as spoken by Jesus as you wrote above. God means God. his means whose?

Totally agree! We prefer King James and New King James versions. NIV is just too progressive from what I've seen.

Believe me...I am not touting the NIV of God's Word as the 'end-all' to bible reading. All I was attempting to portray was that it is good to read many versions of God's Word to get a 'balanced' picture of what God, through human beings, is trying to tell and or teach us. As previously stated, the Hebrew voices it yet entirely different than the King James Version of God's Word and the Jewish translation of the Hebrew is likely to be more accurate in relation to translation than the King James. Please don't get me wrong: I surely like the King James Version of God's Word and enjoy the New King James Version of God's Word even more! However I do look into other versions of God's Word to see 'How Differently' it is portrayed. After all ... we are seeking the 'Truth' aren't we not? We tend to have a Western slant on things but should you take a trip to Isreal & the surrounding nations, you would have an entirely different perspective on what you believe and why you believe it. Stick to the truth 'Absolutly' but do step out of the Western mind-set and experience God's Word as it was 'Originally' written!

This is not about ones mindset. It is about a Bible version that omits the one most important word in Gods' Word, and that is God. Again, how can a translator justify removing God from the Bible and replacing it with "his". This version perverts to Word of God. If it does not interpret to original language than it is not a true representation. Not saying the KJV is THE ONLY version. I am saying that the NIV is a JUNK translation by some people who obvioulsly could use some translating skills.
