I started todays hunt at a vacant lot that I've had my eye on for some time now. I found the owner 3 days ago and had gotten his permission to hunt it. After an hour and a half with nothing to show but trash and very disappointed, I moved on to the old high school in town. Another hour of listening to nothing but trash signals, I decided to call it quits for the day. I was unloading my gear at home, when I decided to hunt in the front yard of the place that I'm house sitting. The first signal was a 56 wheat, mmm, I thought maybe a silver dime might pop up. The next signal almost made me fall over, it was the last coin I expected to find in my own yard, ahhh, there's no place like home
There were 2 other coins in the same hole with the half, another wheatie and a nickle. I ran out of time before having to head out of town to pick up my kids. That sure made up for the first couple of hours of getting skunked. When I have more time, I do believe I'll be spending more time in my own yard.
