Just wanted to say sorry to everyone for my recent venting. I am prone to "losing it" every now and then and do have a cracking point because I am very passionate about what I do, proud of the company I work for and defensive about the people I work with.

I take my "work" home with me every night because metal detecting is also my hobby and passion and has been since before I started working in the industry almost 20 years ago. I live and breathe detecting 24/7 and think it is safe to say I am more deeply involved in the hobby than anyone in the world. I detect every chance I get, my vacations are planned around detecting trips and I even try and get out for an hour on my lunch break when I can. Those that know me know how often I hunt, the stuff I find and how important it is to me. I watch the history channel and the books I read are always about history or artifacts.

I am just like most on this forum and love detecting and playing on and reading the forums. Sometimes its difficult for me to make the distinction between the personal fun hobby part and the professional business aspect and they can get muddled together. I am sure these 2 things will intertwine again and I may make posts viewed by some as unprofessional. I am always willing to take my lumps from others if they don't like the way I conduct myself but I am what I am and despite my position I will always be myself.

But I still prefer the Omega over the F75.

Not to worry mate we understand there are two sides to a coin.
 
Mike's passion for history is what drives us all to this hobby. I remember holding my first old coin and for a second having a link to the past. I had the wow factor all day and into the next hunt. It is getting harder to find history and that is why we need better machines.
Fisher to me is the best out there and has been for a long time. The CZ are classic and still hold up to any machine out there. And the F75 and LTD are inching towards the next flagship that may help us uncover even more history. I see by some of the photos and videos that this hobby can be something most anyone can do. And for those that read these forums and learn from them all I can say is the history that is uncovered and then displayed for all to see is a thrill.

At times I love to be a kid and hunt and block all of the everyday problems out of my head. I went through cancer a few years ago and all I could think about is getting healed so I could get back outdoors and find some history and become a kid again. Cancer will take a huge toll on you and it changes you forever. But when I get outdoors and get into the detecting zone I think how lucky I am to be able to be back digging and preserving history. I had a hunt in the city with two guys I met on this forum Cal Cobra and Crosby and my best friend Rybo. We hunted in San Francisco and it was great to be with real salt of the earth people. We found some history and had a blast talking and telling stories.

This is the best forum and I can only hope we can all get along and help one another with this hobby. I will tell you I would love to come back East and hunt with some of you, your history is way different from Calif history. Crosby and I have thought about how cool it would be to hunt some of the places you guys hunt.

Anyway I am still learning the F75 LTD and even know it only has two more programs I think the old programs run better on the LTD....Mike and Bill have been very kind to share their love of the hobby with us and despite the fireworks today it is good to see that that is in the past.:beers:

I hope to see Fisher come out with new detectors in the new future...and I hope some of the other companies realize that having a detector that has its display in black and white is not all that improtant when the world around us is in color!
 
Both must have had to do some give and take......... And, that's a great thing to happen among members of the greatest hobby in the world! Now, go find some stuff to keep posting........ I'm still going to be in this leg immobilizer for another 5 weeks after having had knee surgery, and I check in 2 or 3 times a day to see what folks are finding! If I can't dig stuff, at least I can celebrate what others are recovering!
 
I take folks out detecting all the time. When Mike comes into town I always put him on some of my best New England sites....
Your right we are kinda spoiled here....I was hunting a 1600's foundation just last weekend, & most of the country does not have that kind of age....

In my part of Virginia I don't find anything near that old. All we have here are those pesky Civil War relics.:clapping:
 
and since I don't have any Civil war stuff up here...I'm always driving down there :) I guess we get spoiled with what we have after awhile ;)

I'm thinkin' of taking a trip out west in hopes of digging some clad.
 
These are occasionaly found out east and every now and then here in the midwest.......You have to work a little harder for it but the good stuff is where you find it.
They dont get much older than this here in the states....... Pretty good shape for coming out of the midwest
