Blown out shoulder

After all the injury's to my right shoulder like football shoulder pads breaking, racket ball I always forgot about that wall when diving for that low ball, and 2 bad azz motor cycle wrecks, my shoulders is finally gone. I could always rebuild it before without surgery but I am wondering this time. I am even trying physician therapy, it is helping. Now I were my swingy thing on my left shoulder and still hunt right handed. Been trying to hunt left handed but it just not for me. Now I don't swing my arm, I use ankles and legs to swing the coil. I guess I will wear them out. The Doctor told me surgery is the only answer for me. I hate the thought of the knife. If I can bet this doctor out with exercise I am going too try it. But this shoulder is singing out in pain. I don't do pain pills. This physician therapy guy I am going to is the best on shoulder injuries in the area. If this helps I will let you guys know what exercises on they shoulders really help out, so if anybody as this problem can build it back.

I'm real sorry to hear about your shoulder problem, Bayrat!

My condition has prevented me from detecting now for over 9 months. I have fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome. Overuse injuries on my right shoulder helped to create myofascial pain syndrome which spread in my neck and down to my lower back and legs, which then turned into fibromyalgia, which has created pain in almost every muscle in my body. Along with the pain comes extreme fatigue. Detecting helped me get out of a flare back in '07, but overuse on my shoulder by detecting aggravated an old injury, which started the pain syndrome. I had a major flare up last July...I could barely walk. Now, it is getting better...I'm in less pain and fatigue, but my shoulder injury is still hurting whenever I do something. If I do too much too soon, my condition could flare up again....I've had 3 flare ups in the past 13 years. It's living hell.

I really hope you can alleviate your shoulder condition through therapy, but if the doctors see damage in your shoulder, therapy may be real difficult to accomplish, but I wish you the best! Mind over matter!!

That really hits home with me! I have been having shoulder issues for the last year and a half. My problem isn't so much pain as a popping sound it make's with it is moved certain way's. Don't get me wrong I get pain to ,but not unbearable. I hope its not a torn Labrame. I figure as long as I can put up with the pain and popping I will just deal with it. Be side's I know if I go to a doctor he will just want to cut on me! Boy it sucks when you finally find a hobby you are passionate about and it hurts to do it!

Im in the Bad sholder club too.

After years of abuse on the right shoulder my rotator cuff pulled the muscle off the bone. Every one said "get the operation"...I did not...but it has been a long time to get where I am at now and it will never be 100%. But that hasn't stoped me yet, I use a modified swingy thingy on long hauls and have been learning to be pretty ok with the left arm swinging as well. The one thing that helps most is getting blood to the torn muscle area. You do this by ice pack then heat then cold, over and over for a long time. Ive been I think 4-5 years and I am not in so much pain anymore but the strength is not there and never will be like it was. I quit raqetball, Iost my golf game (I rarely still play just cant hit hard...couldnt hit straight anyway) and I tend to make others do the high arm movement for me at work.

But even if I have to become left handed I'll still get out and detect...cant stop it I;m a shovelhead!

good luck

If its a cartiledge issue try Glucosamine by Sci-Fit. I cant live without it.
Hope you can rehab it.

My third visit, seems to help a little bit. I just got a invite to go to a very large ranch an do some detecting. I am going no matter what, if I got to hunt crawling. This place is a virgin. Had a little battle there in the civil war. Shoulder got to make it, I think I am going to start trying left handed this week, got to come to me sooner or later.

As we age we tend to forget we arent bullet proof any longer. When i was in the military i always worked thru pain, luckily i have no lasting conditions from my 22 years service. Now ill tell you what i preached to the young troopers..... if it hurts and can be fixed get it done. Men are the worst for preventative medicine, but there comes a time when age catches up and we dont heal on our own. Start listening to your body.... it telling you something. I ran marathons and combat runs for years... but when i got injuries i went to the doctor and got advice... WHICH i might add i took. My father-in-law had shoulder problems and we finally got him to get it fixed. Hes living pain free and he was 68 when he had it done. He had knee surgery after that ... another success story. You can put it off.... but it aint going away injuries only get worse.
