Boat Access?

Anyone use their boat to access detecting sites? Maybe beaches only accessible by boaters or sandbars that boaters raft up on? Beaches that you can't get to from the land side? How about snorkeling and detecting? Making plans; Looking for ideas.

I've used my little boat to get access to old hotel sites that are closed down. Access across the property would be trespassing but access by boat isn't because anything below the high tide mark is public as is the water of course.
I did pretty well because the sites were unhunted.

Cheers,

I will be. I have located three old swimming area's that are now homes and are out of reach except by boat. I will pull into a couple of feet of water put an anchor down and jump out. This is to do here so it shouldn't be a problem. Lot's of other places to boat to also. Good luck and Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!

My pictures aren't good so I don't post much but this will give you some idea of where boat access can take you. The downed trees are a present from hurricane Ivan. The last one is a couple of hundred feet or so from shore almost IN the boat channel so I guess you could call that boat access.. Merry Christmas, Happy holidays good hunting. Don

Thanks to all for the replies and Merry Christmas!!

I'm in the process of purchasing a BHID300. Enjoy the pictures of you using one. Am I mistaken.... or do I see the bow of a Boston Whaler? I have a 2007 17ft Montauk. Those photo's have really got me chomping at the bit. Looks like you're use the stock shaft on the BHID300. Thanks for the pics.

Here in SW FL. we have a lot of resorts that there is no public parking for a mile or better. These are great to access by boat as the water is state owned and open to the public up to the mean tide line. You cannot hunt there private beach, but the water and wet sand hunting is so great there is no need to trespass.

I have found the boaters islands I have hunted have been lousy with pull tabs and buried beer cans. None of the boaters want to get caught with empty beer cans on the way home, so they deep six them. What a shame!

I use my boat a few times chasing the good stuff and if I don't do any good I usually have my fishing gear with me and do a bit of fishing.
It opens up a whole new world in detecting. I also take my snorkle gear with me always. You just never know.
Good hunting and good luck for the new year.

I use my boat all the time for access. The laws in MI are screwy but I have found a lot of things by boat. On private lakes you can boat if there is a DNR access site. HOWEVER Each land owner owns a pie shapped piece of property out to the center of the lake so technically if your on the bottom your tresspassing on their property. If your on top in a boat it is legal. How WIERD is that????

I dive all the time and so no land owner has kicked me off "Their Property" So what they do not know won't hurt them in my opinion. Everyone that I have talked to when I come up have been super nice though and I have heard of only one problem with a friend. On the great lakes the beach is public to the high water mark. But the houses are close and sometimes you have to walk a LONG way to get to a spot. I always use my boat there also and park on a sandbar. I also only use dive gear even if I am in 3' of water. Bottles and other non metal things are nice to find.

Here I am on one of my most favorite lakes. I can stay a whole week on a sandbar and play with all the comforts of home that I need. Along with a hookah and 7 scuba tanks and 2 fisher CZ-21's I am a happy camper!!!!

Here we are at my most favorite island in the great lakes. The sandbar is larger than most any city park and it is wall to wall boats in the summer. All the gold and silver I have found here is almost unreal. I am in waist deep water that far from the island and it is all SAND. I love this place!!!!
