Boost mode on regular T2

I had read a post that Tom Dankowski had stated that on the regular T2, when discrimination was set on anything below 5 that it would kick into a kind of boost mode for depth. Does this seem to ring true for any of you seasoned T2 users? I know and have read that the depth does gain when the disc goes up in certain ranges and that the folks at Teknetics would not say why. I emailed Dave Johnson and asked him this same question and was told it was a trade secret. Hopefully one of these days someone will find out why this is and let us all know. But I was just curious if the disc below 5 was similar to the boost mode on the T2 LTD,?? Thanks for any help and happy hunting..

If you review the test material on disc settings I sent you..........you will see that the disc/gain follows a linear depth increase as the disc is lowered. You have the answer already:)
And no, First Texas will not give you that info. I already tried that. That's why the tests I sent you were conducted by Mal & myself.

Terra can you post that info for everyone to see? I'm sure more than just me love to see it!!!

That's strange... I don't lose the boost above 50. I've tested it many times on my machine, but never tested it above 60.

Hello all Tom D. also talks about a disc 21 mandatory 1 tone for best iron see-thru ability IE... a site with a lot of iron nails, which has produced silver in areas rechecked by me?I run that combo alot with sens. as high as possible, sometimes I run disc 51 , 4 tone am i crazy? Also while in boost would it be using continuous or sampled processing or both? r.r.7

To clear up some of the confusion without revealing any trade secrets........

"Boost mode" on the LTD's is something entirely unrelated to what you see happening in the non-LTD/SE T2's or in the default process of the T2LTD/SE.

Visual target ID is sampled process only, the eye is not quick enough to follow continuous time target data.

Audio in the default process is a combination of continuous and sampled processes regardless of the discrimination setting.

Under some conditions a distinct increase in sensitivity will be observed at single-digit discrimination settings, as well as above a setting of 40. What that's all about is a trade secret and I am not at liberty to explain it, I am merely agreeing with what certain experienced users have already reported. These behaviors of the machine are not software bugs, they were put there intentionally in order to improve results in the hands of customers, and those field results have vindicated the design.
