Bouncing cursor

I`ve been reading as many posts on here as I can to learn. Also watching any video I can get my hands on and just want to clarify the bouncing cursor on good hits. I had some of that today with a 1945 merc. Is it from being on edge? 8 hunts and 20 hours in with the machine and I love it, but I know a long way to go. Also, my brother is about to buy a minelab too and he has zero detector experience. What would be the consensus here as to whether he should go etrac or se pro? Thanks, Randy

If he has zero experience I would say go for the E-trac. That way he starts at the present top of the line. Get Andy' books on the E-trac and Explorers. I learned more in 15 min. from Andy's books than I did in two weeks of hardknocks.

Yes, I already have Andy`s book. It`s great, but nothing beats working the machine in the field.

In air-testing a silver dime on edge the audio response was noticably different from testing it flat across the coil. Kind of a quick double beep. What kind of sound did it give you? Very curious....Thanks.

29inchs of snow will take more then 12 days to spring will allow sad to say boo hoo in vt

The deeper the coins are the more bounce you can expect. As long as it keeps bouncing to the upper right corner and gives that squeaky audio it's worth digging. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll unearth a lot more silvers.

Hey McDave, the sound was good , but it didn`t check out at 90 degrees. I swept that coil real slow for a good minute before i decided to dig it. The cursor position was not quite at silver spot either and the ferrous numbers were just a bit high, though the conductive was fair 26-7. I thought it was gonna be a a rotten nail ! What thrilled me about today was the iron mask at 22, i dug several coins that i missed last week in this small yard that were gettin nulled by close iron, including a 56 rosie.
