Garretts carried the Vancouver torch more than
600 yards across Vancouver Island.
Garrett Metal Detectors is an Official Supplier of the
2010 Winter Games in Vancouver. This will mark
the 11th time that Garrett has provided security
products to Olympic venues since supplying walkthrough
and hand-held metal detectors to the
Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games. Garrett will
provide more than 1,000 metal detection products
for the 2010 Vancouver Games, including walkthrough
and hand-held metal detectors for security
checkpoint screening.

Hey that's really awesome, man! Thanks for sharing! I knew that they were providing the security gear for the Olympics like they always do, but I didn't know that they carried the torch like that. Totally cool. Mr. Garrett is one of my heroes.:thumbup:Happy Hunting!:)

Youll just have to pack your Ace up and hit those spots where the crowds congregate to watch the events. I did manage to hunt below the couldron of the Sydney Olimpics Christmas before last.
Mick Evans.
P.S. Sounds like a cure for cabin fever.

I saw that the Canadian Curling trials were in Edmonton. Did you go watch? I used to curl years ago. My parents always watched curling on CBC (Saturday afternoon?) when I lived up north Great sport. Wish there was a curling club in the area where I live now.

It's about a 13 hour drive to that location. I bet that there ar coins to be found from all over the world. I would love to go, but it's just not possible with work, kids, chores etc.

Cool. I remember reading on another forum a while back about a member detecting the Olympic site. It was just after construction was started and surfaces were being leveled/spaces cleared. The guy was really killing the old silver for a while, then zip, nothing. I don't remember seeing any more of his posts. It sounded quite exciting for a while.
